During these unprecedented times, Equilibrium has put together a group of practitioners to help you recover while in the safety and comfort of your own home. Our Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and Kinesiologist are available for appointment bookings via Online Video Tele-Rehabilitation. While this solution does not work for all people, it does provide a temporary solution to the healthcare and education needs for some members of our community, while allowing them to remain at home and reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Do your rehab in the comfort of your own home in a confidential FaceTime-like session. A computer or a laptop that has camera and audio capabilities is required, as well as the browser Google Chrome or Firefox. You will need a quiet safe space around your computer to be able to move as this session will offer you movement assessment, exercise, stretching and pain management options and other self care instructions that you can be doing at home. You will need access to your phone in the unlikely event of a disconnection.

Manual Osteopathy is a hands-on method of treatment whose purpose is to restore function in the body by finding and addressing the primary causes of pain and imbalance. There is an inextricable relationship between the structure and function of the body. The goal is to restore the position, mobility, and vitality to the structures of the body and allow it to return to a more natural, healthy state. At the heart of this work is the philosophy that the body has the innate ability to regulate and heal itself. The key to this process is the unimpeded circulation of the body’s fluids. These vital liquids carry many of the body’s life-sustaining compounds, such as hormones, enzymes and their secretions, immune and anti-inflammatory factors, neural impulses, nutritional elements, and dissolved gases such as oxygen. They also serve as the medium for removing and excreting the bi-products of digestion and cellular respiration. When these processes are happening optimally the body has a much greater capacity for health and wellness.

Rolfing is a hands-on method that uses slow, sustained pressure with the goal of releasing habituated patterns that lead to tension and pain. Rolfing is about change, changing the way you feel and the way you move. Client and Practitioner work together in each session, which involves client participation that involves: reaching, contracting, using the senses, and other movements to build better body awareness. The goal is to align the structure in gravity such that the human body can move with ease. You can expect results to range from better coordination, to better movement, increased body awareness, and becoming more adaptable and resilient to life’s stressors.

Clients are asked to wear attire that allows access to the back, and lower legs, therefore, running shorts and a sports bra are appropriate for women, and running shorts and shirtless for men.

Please note: Although Osteopathy is covered by several extended health insurance companies, only a few companies allow direct billing. Some companies require the patient to submit on their own.

What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is one of the principal branches of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). TCM is a complete, holistic and non-invasive medical system that has evolved over 3000 years to diagnose, treat and prevent illness. Acupuncture is a procedure which promotes health and alleviates pain.

How Does Acupuncture Work?
Traditional acupuncture is based on ancient Chinese theories of the flow of Qi (chee) and blood through energetic pathways in the body referred to as meridians. Qi is the animating force that gives us our capacity to move, think, and feel, in other words, our “vital force”. Meridians circulate life-giving nourishment in the form of Qi and blood to every part of the body.
In acupuncture, certain points on the body act as gateways to access and regulate the Qi in the meridians via the insertion of very fine needles. Qi regulates the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual harmony of the body by keeping the energetic flows in balance. Imbalances and blockages of the body’s Qi are the root of disease processes. These imbalances may be caused by physical and emotional trauma, lack of excercise, poor nutrition, and chronic stress. Acupuncture works by rebalancing the energetic system of the body and supporting the body’s capacity to heal itself. By alleviating symptoms and treating the underlying cause of disease, acupuncture returns the body, mind and spirit to a balanced state.

Fees are covered by most extended health insurance plans. For those with MSP Premium Assistance, a portion of the fee will be reimbursed. Members of Veterans Affairs, RCMP, and the Canadian Forces get Acupuncture treatments covered.
